It was really fun! I ran into tumblr users ybee and killertune and can now confirm that they do exist irl.
I also met Steve Lieber since the friend who came with me was big into Superior Foes of Spider-Man. In addition to signing her comics, he offered to do a little sketch! The only paper available was my sketchbook so he inked us a Boomerang and then flipped through my book.
He drew the little block figure on the right and recommended a good resource book. Please note there is a reason that sketch isn’t posted here; he managed to find the WORST pages of the doodle book, but hey, I accidentally got great free advice! It was a pleasure to watch him work and he was super cool.
Oh, and lest we forget, I met Gail Simone at her signing booth and she signed my program: victory.
Hello Naruto Nostalgia, fancy seeing you here (it’s entirely ybee's fault). I stopped watching somewhere in the Shippuden 200s episodes and was too lazy to find my place and restart, haha.
Drawing anime gives me style identity crisis, which is particularly off-putting considering I don’t even think I have a style. Also, I made her jacket more like a hoodie for no reason, just cuz.
Flowers used in the borders: Violet - Modesty & the “Shrinking Violet” trope Touch-Me-Not - Mimosa pudica Latin for “shy” or “shrinking” is the pink fuzzball plant. Its leaves will fold inward when touched to protect itself and unfold later when the danger has passed Garlic - Courage & Strength (hey remember when she fought Pain?) Red Carnation - Aching Heart, Admiration (the eternal naruto crush)
